Field I – Underground waters
“Estimate, managing and monitoring of underground waters, major water-carrier basins, having as priority tourist and urban areas”
Hydro-geological surveying for the estimation of the underground water reserves, and use of the major basins of the country. Methodical monitoring of all the hydro-geological parameters.
Holding up the program of government about the water providing, are presented projects, that offer new way for furnish possibilities of water providing in the coastal and urban areas.
Field II – Mineral Resource
“Reconsidering of the mineral resources and their recycling on the market”
This field aims the reconsidering of major chrome and cooper ore bodies, giving concrete recommendations that will produce the interest of private investment. For the need constructions industry must be founded materials that respect the environment. For this purpose will be realized research to find new alternatives in use of rocky aggregate, as well will be performed the estimation of industrial raw materials of great practice interest. There are planned researches for the estimate of rare metals (as platinum).
Field III – Territory and mineral resource administration
“Complex mapping in function of a good manage of territory and natural resources in national and local range”
The high urban development demands the appliance of mapping on different scale in function of territory and environmental management, necessary for a constant urban planning. Those mapping on scale 1:25 000 are performed in a great part of country. Now will be concentrate in Korca, Fieri, Berati districts and in other part. Simultaneous performed a systematic observation of the geomagnetic field in whole Albania and a revaluation of the anomalies
Field IV – Geo-environment and its monitoring
“Complex proceedings and geo-environment monitoring”
This project aims an integral development, and an active protection of the environment. There are foreseen researches about geodynamic, rivers delta accumulation and erosion, terrain stability, pollutions etc. We aim to make a estimation of environmental impact by the processes of gravel-carried by the rivers bed on the costal erosion and sediment forming dynamic of the rivers net of Albania. Simultaneous will continue the monitoring of contents of radon in soul, atmosphere and waters, in the areas of high risk. Will be completed a geochemical study of the peripheral urban area of Tirana, and will be compiled the geo-environmental map on 1:50 000 scale of the area between Shkumbini river and Vlora.
Complex research will realize for the karstic and glacial rivers, with aim to grow their tourist potential.
By the geological point of view, will be define the appropriate areas for the urban remnants stocking in the Prrenjas and Koplik towns.
Will be fulfill the documentation of the geo-sites protection of the national importance.
Will be initiate researches for estimation of pollution in Kukes, Burrel etc., genetic zoning of the coastal area based on ecosystems, monitoring of dynamic of coastal line on scale 1:50 000
Field V – Geological hazards and public infrastructure
“Estimation and monitoring of the geological hazards, geo-technical works for the valuation of the solidity in the enlargement of the public infrastructure.
Geo-hazards have serious consequences on the inhabited areas, and menace the security of the infrastructure. We provide to initiate researches for evaluation of geo-hazards. At the same time provide to perform geo-technical studies of urban and rural areas that are characterized form high occurrence of geo-dynamic phenomena, and will be compile maps on 1:50 000 scale of geo-hazards. By such research will be evidenced the zones in risk, and will compile their classification based on the intensity and riskness, giving the ways how to minimize the negative effects.
Such works will be performed firstly in districts.
Special mapping researches will be realized to estimate the geo-hazard on the slopes of the Koman Hydro-Power (Puka-Tropoja)
Field VI – Geo-information
“Further developments of informative system and data-base. The transmission of information to decision-make institution and society.”
The process to digitalize the maps of tourist and urban areas will continue. Data-base compile for the geological, raw materials, geo-technical and water resources information. By this way the information use will be easily used, and faster transmitted to decision-makers. All the projects of AGS are corporated in this project.
Different publications will be realized too. Those will describe the professional and scientific activity of AGS, and will be a good way for the society education. For a further development of the professional and scientific level of our specialists is provided their participation in different qualification courses, workshops and other activities.
Field VII- Researches on the help of emergency problems of the local government and citizens.
Usually the local government request emergency support to resolve the needs of citizens (such as water providing, land slides, collapses, flooding).
AGS prepare emergency researches to resolve those problems. Such requests are growing every year.
